Seek to Know God
In 2 Peter 1:2 we read that as we seek to learn about God, we will receive grace and peace. We come to know our Heavenly Father as we study the scriptures and conference talks that speak of Him. The more we learn about Him, the more we should try to be like Him and be obedient to His commandments. As we become more like Him, we will increasingly feel the influence and power of the Holy Ghost which will confirm to us the greatness and goodness of our Heavenly Father. This increased presence of the Spirit will give us the promised peace that comes from learning more about God.
From studying the scriptures and conference talks, I know that Heavenly Father has a physical body and that I am created in His image. I know that He is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me and all of His children. I know that He has a plan for me that will allow me to return to His presence if I do His will.
Elder Bruce R. McConkie stated, "To know God is to think what he thinks, to feel what he feels, to have the power he possesses, to comprehend the truths he understands, and to do what he does. Those who know God become like him, and have his kind of life, which is eternal life" ((Doctrinal New Testament Commentary).
